The challenge

Made North aren’t like the other software companies.

Not only do they create software that empowers people and businesses by streamlining processes. But by generously sharing their knowledge and expertise they build long lasting relationships and trusted partnerships with clients who really love working with them.

Trading on their good name alone for a number of years with no brand to speak of, owner Matt Williams decided that it was time they had a brand that aligned with their reputation for excellence and the unique relationships the company built with their clients.

The solution

An in-depth brand workshop kickstarted the process.

I undertook a number of exercises in the initial workshop. These helped to define their brand values, brand story, and their brand personality, streamline their features and benefits, identify their communication objectives, identify their competitors and analyse their performance, analyse and understand their market focus.

This workshop together with further research and the design process led to the creation of a brand that visually connects Made North to their clients in a way that feels very authentic. The brand is strong, trustworthy and straight talking, but with a softness and generosity at its core. It is visually distinctive with a transparent quality to it that is reflected in the values of the business.

The visual brand is defined by fine lines, fluid shapes, and a natural colour palette. Bought together by a modern humanist typeface.

The rocks and stones, hills and mountain paths of the north played a large part in the inspiration behind the key elements of the Made North visual brand. They are strong, trustworthy and timeless.
